Org. Setting and Reporting
The Internship is located in the Office of Director of the Gender, Poverty and Social Policy Division (GPSPD) at the UN Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) in Addis Ababa. The internship is for three (3) months with an opportunity for extension, depending on the needs of the Director. The internship is UNPAID and full-time. The intern will work for five days per week under the supervision of the Director.
GPSPD consists of three sections, namely, the Social Policy, Urbanization and Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment Sections, which cover social thematic areas such as social protection, employment, demography, youth, ageing, migration, health, disability, and urbanization, while the gender component is mainstreamed across all areas of work. Under the direct supervision of the Director, the intern will carry out the following functions:
•Assist the Director with managing the work schedule and follow up with sections on tasks assigned by the Director;
•Assist with work across all sections including compiling information, collecting data, undertaking analysis, developing briefing notes and proof reading documents when required;
•Assist with organizing and coordinating meetings, workshops, conferences, and preparing coverage reports;
•Assist with developing press releases, and generating and disseminating materials on social media;
•Perform other duties assigned by the Director to ensure the delivery of the Division programme of work.
