Org. Setting and Reporting
The duration of the internship programme is normally two months on a full time basis - this may be exceptionally extended for a maximum period of six months. It is awarded on the recommendation of UNIC's Director.
Interns are not paid and are responsible for all expenses related to the internship.
UNIC accepts no responsibility for costs arising from accidents and/or illness incurred during an internship. Therefore, upon awarding an internship, candidates will be required to sign a statement confirming their understanding and acceptance of the conditions of service.
Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in UNIC.
This internship is located within the UN Information Centre in Beirut (UNIC-Beirut). The intern reports directly to the Director.
Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual’s background; the intern’s assigned office as well as the internship period. Duties may include, but are not limited to:
1 - Assist in organizing press conferences, meetings, briefings and other PR events by UNIC-Beirut;
2 - Provide media support to events organized by UNIC-Beirut;
3 - Draft in English and Arabic media advisories, press releases, press reviews, talking points, statements, news stories, etc;
4 - Update on daily basis UNIC-Beirut’s website and other social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, youtube,etc) with relevant UN news and events;
5 - Assist in taking photos and videos for media coverage and archiving;
6 - Assist in other ad-hoc activities as instructed.
