Org. Setting and Reporting
This internship is in the Management Evaluation Unit (MEU) of the Office of Under-Secretary-General (OUSG), Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance (DMSPC). The duration is for two months with a possible extension of maximum six months, depending on the needs of the department. The internship is unpaid and full-time. Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the office to which they are assigned.
The MEU was established as part of the new Administration of Justice as of 1 July 2009. The Unit evaluates complaints against administrative decisions by staff members, and makes recommendations to the Under-Secretary-General for DMSPC on whether to uphold, settle or reverse such decisions.
Responsibilities of the internship position encompass the following aspects of MEU’s work. These responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
•Reviewing and summarizing past MEU recommendations for purposes of a new database digest.
•Providing assistance in conducting legal research on issues relating to international public administrative law and other areas required for management evaluations.
•Attending and taking notes at meetings as appropriate.
