The mandate of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) is to promote inclusive economic, social and environmental development and support regional cooperation and integration in the Asian and Pacific region. ESCAP’s role as a regional development arm of the United Nations Secretariat, is to support its membership, through its analytical, normative and technical cooperation, to respond to the development priorities and changing needs of the Asian and Pacific region.
This internship position is situated in the Human Resources Management Section, under the supervision of a staff member in the office to which they are assigned.
Selected interns will be expected to serve for a minimum period of three months, with an opportunity of extension up to six months, depending on the needs of the Office and the availability of the selected candidate.
The internship is UNPAID and full-time.
This internship opportunity offers:
Insights into the administrative functioning of the UN system and ESCAP in particular;
Exposure to a multicultural work environment, and interaction with colleagues across various offices at ESCAP and/or other UN agencies in Bangkok.
Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual's background and specific duties may include but are not limited to:
•Contribute to the development of a communications strategy on several HR projects (talent acquisition, onboarding, remote internships, non-staff capacity, gender, etc.)
•Contribute to the development of communication products such as internal publicity materials and products (e.g. briefs, talking points, guidelines, brochures, power- point presentations, etc.), to enhance the quality and outreach of and messaging to a diverse range of stakeholders and partners
•Design and layout materials (e.g. reports, infographics, images, dynamic presentations, etc.) using a variety of software including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Word and PowerPoint for internal audiences, and for presentation, and online use
•Assist HR team in curating and posting stories, blogs, photos and videos;
•Participate in the development of onboarding messages for new hires, updating onboarding materials; development of HR guidelines on various topics
•Introduce creative approaches to improve internal communication
•Meticulous and detailed oriented, excellent written communications skills
•Perform other related duties, as assigned by the supervisor
For this internship position experience with MS Office is required.
