Mission and responsibilities

 

We are looking for a young Communication Specialist with relevant experience who will make a critical contribution to the development of our initiative by sourcing, creating, and reporting about stories that will bring to life our vision, and to inspire young professionals to follow a career in the aid and development sector.

He/she will be responsible for developing content and communication tools that will be shared on various social media platforms, with various partners, and the users of the platform. In particular, the Communication Specialist would participate to the development of our information hub (https://aidcareers.org/blog) which is a resource centre made by young professionals for young professionals so that they can find relevant information to advance their career: practical guides on what it really takes to work in the aid and development sector, testimonials about careers at international organizations and NGOs, Q&A's with recruiters and experts of the aid and development sector, learn how to create successful applications to beat the tough competition in this field, etc.


Main tasks:

  • Propose topics or brainstorm together on new articles that would be helpful to young professionals, and that you would like to write about!
  • Write blog posts for publication on AidCareers blog, with a focus on aid and development/staff development related fields
  • Curate corresponding visual content for blog posts as needed
  • Design and update the bi-weekly newsletter sent to various partners and our website users
  • Collect data and generate metrics on our content and audience for reporting.

 

Qualifications

Excellent writing skills with writing samples to share


Creative, with exciting ideas for aid and development, as well as young professional career development blog posts


Degree in aid and development related field preferred (e.g. international relations, law, HR, etc.)


(Bonus) Prior experience writing for a blog or publication
